Year-round cultural events and thousands of students fuel the vibrant aura of Tartu, Estonia's second-largest city and the gateway to South Estonia.
Tartu hosts a varied calendar of plays, concerts, festivals, conferences, and sporting events throughout the year. It is also home to over 20 museums and has been part of the UNESCO Creative Cities network as an International City of Literature since 2015.
EFOL 2025 sprint competition and opening ceremony take place in the heart of Tartu.
Tartu's most important market square in the 18th century, the current Town Hall Square, is a favorite meeting place for Tartu residents. During summer, outdoor cafes fill with pleasant chatter. Festivals, fairs, sports competitions, and more take place on the square.
Classicist buildings line the square, and in the middle, you will also find one of Tartu's most famous attractions — a fountain with a statue of kissing students.
